The BDL Web Presence Survey covers two areas -
-
Your presence on the Web
-
Your Website
Your presence on the Web - We will undertake diligent searches on
the web for your company name (and names like it), your key products or
services in the area where you operate and for the keywords used on your
website. Searches are carried out manually using terms that people might
use when looking for you or your services. We use the three key search
engines Google, Yahoo and MSN and also Copernicus which searches in a
different way. You are then provided with a full report on what was
found and a score out of 100 together with recommendations as to how
people might more easily find you on the web.
Your Website - We will carry out a full survey of your website
covering aspects including usability, operational effectiveness,
accessibility (for DDA compliance in the UK), legal compliance (UK
Distance Selling regulations) and search optimisation. Within this we
check for spelling mistakes, broken links, exits (where your site is
closed when a browser clicks on a link), download times using both
broadband and dial-up, screen and browser compatibility (are browsers
seeing what you think they see?) and much more. Again we will supply you
with a full report and a score out of 100 together with recommendations
on how your site might be improved.
You
will appreciate from the above that this is a time consuming and labour
intensive process which takes several hours. Although some of it is
automated to an extent we prefer not to use automated tools because they
don't see what people see and they don't 'think' like people do,
especially when it comes to thinking up search expressions! In view of
this we make the following charges for this service -
These
fees will be refunded if as a consequence of the report you
commission work to be carried out to improve your web site or your web
presence within a 6 month period of the date of the report.
